Monday, August 10th  The speaker will be John Gilbert McCurdy, of Eastern Michigan University. He will talk about his 2019 book, Quarters: The Accommodation of the British Army and the Coming of the American Revolution. This book won the 2019 Journal of the American Revolution Book of the Year Award. ARRTOP has yet to announce its 2019 Book Award, but this book is one of the finalists for our award. Professor McCurdy’s book is also available on Amazon  A meeting invitation with link will be sent out to members a few days before the meeting.

 

Monday, August 24thThe speaker will be Mary Beth Norton, a professor emeritus of history at Cornell University. She will be speaking about her 2020 book, 1774: The Long Year of Revolution. Ms. Norton is one of the leading Revolutionary War historians of her era. She is a past president of the American Historical Association. Her earlier book, Liberty’s Daughters: The Revolutionary Experience of American Women, 1750-1800, is considered the leading book on women during the American Revolution, and many authors that have followed with books on that aspect of women’s and Revolutionary War history have credited her for being the trailblazer in this genre. Professor Norton’s latest book is also available on Amazon  A meeting invitation with link will be sent out to members a few days before the meeting.
